Sig Sauer P365 SAS review

07/08/2021

Sig Sauer P365 SAS for your everyday carry.

Are you a new gun owner or someone who is looking for that perfect balance while concealed carrying a handgun

Sig Sauer P365 SAS is named this way because you can carry it 365 days a year.  Additionally SAS stands for SIG Anti Sang. Its compact yet it has all the right features which make it a good tactical choice for your EDC (every day carry) if concealability is your main concern.

P365 SAS has it all and is ready to be used right out of the box without any needed upgrades.

(TIP: firearm handling tip below)

All you need to do is

Treat every gun as if it's loaded

1) pull the gun out of the box it came in

2) keeping your finger off the trigger and rest it above on the frame of the gun

3) point it in a safe direction

4) check that its clear and safe by taking the magazine out of the magwell and racking the slide a few times while visually inspecting the chamber for any live ammo that may be stuck inside,

At this point your weapon is safe and clear providing that the magazine is out and the chamber is clear of any live rounds.

5) put the gun down

6) load your live ammo into your magazine

7) pick up the gun again and point it in a safe direction while keeping your finger off the trigger and resting your finger on the frame above

8) load the magazine with live ammo into the magwell of the gun (hint/ tip: make sure it sits and clicks in well)

9) rack the slide back and let go, this will load a round into the chamber.

Now you are locked and loaded. The Weapon is now considered HOT.  This means if you press the trigger the gun will fire. Go easy there tiger.

(tip: at this point some people will take the magazine out and add another round to make sure that the magazine is full and you now have a round in the chamber of the gun and a full magazine which people refer to as 10+1  which means 10 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.) Magazine sizes vary based on guns and state laws so it can be 15+1 or 17+1 or 7+1

10) put the gun in the holster. Make sure there is nothing obstructing this action. (clothing, your own hand or fingers, and more )

11) conceal with your shirt or jacket

Well lets look at the NEW Sig Sauer P365 SAS and the features it has in store for us.

The first thing we notice on this gun is the flush mounted fiber-tritium night sight that comes standard with this handgun is perfect for a quick sight acquisition while playing a safe non snag role during your concealed carry. This means that you are all set for both day and night quick sight acquisition right out of the box, which is very important if you have decided to conceal carry a weapon.

Since we are on the topic of SIG Anti Snag features its worth to mention that even the slide lock is designed in a way that it would not protrude and was recessed into the slide and the frame of the gun to make it line with this very sleek weapon. The above design feature continues to drive the intent of the designers to make this weapon the ultimate concealable weapon as its signature is reduced to a minimum.

here is the recessed slide lock and take down knob

Another feature that stands out and adds to the all in one package has to do with stippling of the grip which helps to create more friction between your hand and the gun which in turn helps control recoil and general grip on the gun. This is crucial when you need to defend your life and get back on target for follow up shots as your hands might be cold, wet, or bloody. One can see that SIg did a good job with 365 degree stippling of the grip.

Additionally one can see a good factory made trigger guard undercut, which helps one to get a higher grip on the gun and mitigate some of that recoil one would expect from a compact model.  Yes, size does matter, even when it comes to your big black Glock or Sig in this case.

One can also see that the magazine provides a little pinky extension to help land all fingers on this compact model which makes a world of a difference when it comes to recoil management. Yes you saw it, stippling is also on the magazine.

Since we are talking about recoil management one can not forget that SIG made sure to add a ported slide with a ported barrel for their P365 SAS model to mitigate some of the recoil by releasing some of the gases from the barrel on a 45 degree angle on both sides. This helps the gun not to go up as much, which means quicker follow up shots when you need it most.

P365 is designed to be ambidextrous so it will be comfortable for both right hand and left handed shooters with a simple mag release switch.

Front slide serrations help to get more traction when you grab the slide, it also helps with press checks (press check, brass check, chamber check - moving of the slide back a bit, to make sure you have a round in the chamber)

What else is super important about an EveryDay Carry gun ?  The Answer  is reliability.  After extensive testing the general consensus is that this model represents consistency and reliability that we have come to love about Sig Sauer. Combat shooting consitancy within 10 to 12 yards which is more than realistic distance of engament.
